Give each person an allowance

An allowance is a normal budget that belongs to one person in a Family space. Only that person's purchases fill it. It still counts in the household total.

Make an allowance

  1. Open or add a budget in the Family space.
  2. In For, pick the person. The default is Everyone, which is how every budget works.
  3. Save. Owners and editors can set it.

Set For back to Everyone to turn it into a shared budget again.

What fills it

Spending filed to the allowance by the person it is For. If someone else files spending to it, the amount still counts in household spending, but it doesn't fill the allowance or any other budget. So when you add or re-file a transaction, the budget list offers only the allowances that belong to the person who paid.

Where you see it

  • Allowances on the Family space page lists each one: "Sara: 27.500 left of 40" or "over".
  • On Home, the allowance sits in Shared budgets with the person's avatar. In Who spent what, their row shows 27.500 left or over.
  • Bank messages are filed to a person's allowance only when that person is the payer.

When the person leaves

The allowance falls back to Everyone. Its name, amount and history stay.
