Pause, cancel or delete a commitment
Three different actions for three different situations.
Pause — for something that has genuinely stopped for a while: a subscription you've frozen, a loan on a payment holiday, a goal you're stepping back from.
A paused commitment leaves your Upcoming feed, stops advancing its due date, and has any overdue flag cleared immediately. It exerts no pressure at all.
When you resume it, missed cycles are skipped, not owed. A monthly bill paused in January and resumed in April moves to its next future date. Surrah won't present you with three back-payments you were never going to make.
Two deliberate differences you should know about:
- A paused obligation can't be marked paid. If you try, you'll be asked to resume it first.
- A paused goal can still be funded and withdrawn from. Its deadline is what's paused, not your money.
Cancel — for something that's over but that you want to keep a record of. A cancelled commitment stops appearing in Upcoming and stops advancing, but its history stays readable in the All view.
Delete — for something added by mistake, or that you simply don't want in the app. It's removed from your lists.
If you're unsure between cancel and delete: cancel keeps the story, delete removes it.
