Renewing your rent contract

If your rent is set by a contract, add the date it ends and Surrah reminds you to renew it in time.

Add the contract end

When you add or edit a Rent commitment, set Contract ends. It's optional: leave it empty and your rent works exactly as before. To take it off later, tap Remove. The row then shows the date, for example Contract ends 12 Mar 2027.

A commitment has either a Contract ends date or a Number of payments, never both.

The renewal notice

30 days before the contract ends, the row shows Renewal due, and the commitment asks Did you renew it? On iPhone you also get a notification. On Android, the notice shows in the app.

Renewed

Tap Renewed to open Renew contract. The New end date is already set 12 months after the current one; change it if your new contract runs for a different period. If the rent changes, enter it in New amount (optional), or leave it empty to keep the current amount. Nothing else changes: the due date, the schedule and the payment history stay as they are.

Ended

Tap Ended if you're moving out. The commitment is completed: it keeps its payment history and no longer counts in your Monthly total. You can bring it back later with Reopen.

If you don't answer

Nothing happens on its own when the date passes. The rent keeps its schedule and its full amount, and the notice stays, reading Contract ended 12 Mar 2027, until you tap Renewed or Ended.
